The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA) has made available the Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus obesus) Fishing Monitoring Panel for the year 2025. The tool gathers updated data on the quantity of the species caught by the fleet, allowing real-time monitoring of fishing activity.
The initiative is aligned with MPA/MMA Interministerial Ordinance No. 24/2025, which sets the catch limit for the species both in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and in international waters by Brazilian vessels. The maximum authorized volume for this year is 6,287 tons.
The definition of the limit respects the parameters established by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT), a regional body responsible for the sustainable management of tuna and related species fisheries in the Atlantic Ocean.
